"Is it by the day?" is one of the first things Laredo callers ask. The question makes sense: hotels, trucks and tools rent by the day. Portable toilets do not, and once you see where the cost really sits, the per-event price starts to look like a better deal for a one-night party.

Why is a porta potty priced per event and not per day?

A porta potty is priced per event because most of the cost is the truck trip, not the calendar. Each rental needs 1 delivery run, 1 setup, 1 pump-out and 1 pickup run, whether the unit stays on site for 1 day or 5 days. Charging by the day would add cost without adding service.

Picture the work behind one Saturday party. A driver loads a cleaned, stocked unit on San Bernardo Avenue, drives it to your address, levels it on your caliche or driveway, and drives back. After the party, a truck returns, pumps the tank, loads the unit and hauls the waste to a permitted disposal site. Those steps are the same for one day or five.

From our call logs
3 of 19

callers we reviewed asked outright whether pricing was by the day. Another 12 of the 19 only needed a unit for a single day or evening. Per-event pricing answers both: one day costs the same as the full window.

What does the 1–5 day event window include?

The event window covers 1 to 5 days on site for one flat price. That price includes delivery, setup, pickup, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. A Saturday party gets a Thursday or Friday drop and a Monday pickup, and those extra days cost nothing because the truck trips stay the same.

Early drops protect your party. If a truck runs late on Saturday morning, your guests notice. If the unit has been sitting in the side yard since Friday afternoon, nobody worries. We do not deliver on Sundays, so a Sunday event also gets a Saturday or earlier drop.

  • Weekend birthday: Friday drop, Monday pickup, one price.
  • Thursday evening event: Thursday morning or Wednesday drop, Friday pickup, one price.
  • Two-day family reunion: still one event, still one price, with an optional service visit between days.

How does 28-day billing work on a jobsite?

A 28-day jobsite rental bills every 28 days, starting the day the unit is dropped. Weekly service is included in each cycle: pump-out, scrub, sanitize, restock and a dated service ticket. There is no contract. The rental renews on its own until you call for pickup, and we collect within 1–2 business days.

Because 28 days is four exact weeks, every cycle starts on the same weekday. That makes renewals easy to track: if the unit landed on a Wednesday, every new cycle also opens on a Wednesday, and your dated service tickets show each weekly visit inside it. A year of 28-day cycles works out to 13 cycles, not 12, which is why we always say "28 days" and never "monthly."

Example: unit dropped on Tuesday, March 3.
CycleCoversService visits included
1 (paid upfront)March 3 – March 304 weekly visits
2March 31 – April 274 weekly visits
3April 28 – May 254 weekly; ask about 2× per week once Laredo heat hits

From May through September, we recommend 2 visits a week for crews of 8 or more. Extra visits are added on request. Our 28-day long-term rentals page covers renewal and pickup in detail.

Do I pay a full month if I only need the unit for three weeks?

You pay one 28-day cycle for a 3-week job, not a calendar month. The cycle is 4 weeks long and includes weekly service. Call for pickup before day 28 and the rental ends after that single cycle, with nothing left to cancel because there is no contract. A 6-week job uses 2 cycles.

That question came from a homeowner remodeling a bathroom with the water shut off. The worry was paying for unused weeks. The honest answer: the first cycle is the minimum for a jobsite rental, and it still beats paying an event price several times over.

When does a rush fee apply, and how do I avoid one?

A rush fee applies only to same-day delivery, and only sometimes. Call by 12:00 noon, Monday through Saturday, for same-day delivery in Laredo and nearby Webb County. Any same-day fee is quoted before you book. Call after noon and the unit goes on the first route the next morning, with no same-day fee.

Rush fees are where rentals fall apart. In the calls we reviewed, callers balked when a rush or emergency fee pushed the quote up by half or more. We do it the other way: dispatch names the fee first, then you decide.

lost sales in our 19-call review came from a rush or emergency fee the caller did not expect. Every Jason Rental Works quote names the same-day fee up front, and next-morning delivery avoids it.

What lines should an itemized porta potty quote show?

An itemized porta potty quote should show 5 things: the unit type and count, the rental length (event or 28-day cycle), servicing, delivery and pickup, and tax. In Laredo the sales tax is 8.25%. A same-day fee or a distance fee appears only when it applies. We add no fuel surcharge and no card fee.

Which pricing structure fits my rental?

Pick the event structure for anything 5 days or shorter: parties, quinceañeras, reunions, weddings and festivals. Pick the 28-day structure for remodels, construction, warehouses and oilfield crews, or any rental longer than 5 days. Not sure? Tell dispatch your dates and we price it the cheaper way.

A few edge cases come up often. A week-long job that might stretch? Start on a 28-day cycle so you are not re-booking. A two-weekend festival? That is two events, or one 28-day cycle with extra service visits, and dispatch compares both. For short notice needs, our short-term and emergency rental page explains next-morning options.

What is the price for one day if I only need it Saturday?
One Saturday costs the same as the whole event window. A standard unit for one event in Laredo typically runs $150–$225 before tax, and that covers 1–5 days on site with delivery, setup, pickup, toilet paper and sanitizer. Keeping it Friday through Monday adds nothing.
My remodel needs a toilet for 3 weeks. Do I pay a full month?
You pay one 28-day cycle, which is shorter than a calendar month. A standard jobsite unit with weekly service typically runs $135–$199 per 28 days before tax in Laredo. Call for pickup before day 28 and the rental ends after that one cycle, with no contract to cancel.
How much is the rush fee for same-day delivery?
The same-day fee in Laredo runs $0–$85, and some days it is zero. Dispatch tells you the exact fee before you book, and it appears as its own line on the quote. Calling by noon, Monday through Saturday, is what makes same-day possible in Zone 1.
Do you charge extra to service a unit mid-event?
Yes, an extra service visit is its own line, typically $40–$70 per visit before tax. Most 1–3 day events do not need one because units arrive clean and stocked. Multi-day events, like a two-day festival, often add a nightly visit so day two starts fresh.
When does the 28-day clock start on a jobsite rental?
The 28-day clock starts on the day we drop the unit, not the day you call. If the unit lands on a Tuesday, each new cycle also starts on a Tuesday, four weeks later. Your first cycle is paid upfront, and later cycles bill automatically until you call for pickup.
Is there a fuel surcharge or a card fee on top?
No. Jason Rental Works does not add fuel surcharges or card processing fees. The only additions to the unit price are a same-day fee if you need it today, a delivery add for Zone 2 towns or a shared distance fee for Zone 3 cities, and Laredo's 8.25% sales tax.
