Decision guide

Which portable restroom fits my event or job?

Answer 5 questions in order: Does anyone use a wheelchair? Is food served? Is it a dressed-up event? Is there an outlet within 100 feet? Is it a jobsite? The first "yes" points to an accessible unit, a hand-wash station, a deluxe unit, a restroom trailer, or a standard unit on weekly service.

  1. A guest or worker uses a wheelchair or walker? Add at least 1 Comfort XL. Public events: 5% of each cluster, minimum 1.
  2. Food, cake or kids? Add 1 hand-wash station for every 2 toilets, minimum 1.
  3. Engagement, shower, 90th birthday? Swap some or all standard units for deluxe units with sinks.
  4. Formal wedding or summer quinceañera with an outlet nearby? Price a 2-stall restroom trailer with A/C.
  5. Construction, warehouse or gas pad? Standard units on 28-day billing with weekly service; towable if the crew moves.

Fit & weight

How do the units compare in size, weight and tank capacity?

The hand-wash station is the smallest at about 35 inches wide and 70 pounds. The standard PJN3 is 43.5 inches wide and needs a 48-inch gate. The deluxe Fleet is 47 inches square, and the Comfort XL is 62 inches square at 240 pounds. A restroom trailer needs a level strip 20–30 feet long.

UnitFootprintHeightWeightTank
Standard PJN343.5" × 47"91"~175 lb60 gal waste
Deluxe Fleet47" × 47"91"~200 lb60 gal waste + flush tank
Comfort XL62" × 62"91"240 lb33 gal waste

Four blue portable toilets in a line on a stamped-concrete patio with palm trees

Every unit needs firm, level ground and a truck path about 10–11 feet wide with 12 feet of overhead clearance. Our crew can cart an empty stall unit about 25 feet.

Mixing types

Can I mix unit types at one event?

Yes, and most bigger events should. Size the total count first with our house method, then decide which units are deluxe, which are standard and which are accessible. A 200-guest, 6-hour October wedding with a bar works out to 10 toilets and 5 hand-wash stations, with at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit in the mix.

Worked example: 200 guests, 6 hours, October, bar, dinner

  1. 200 ÷ 35 per unit (4–8 hours) = 5.7 → 6 toilets.
  2. Bar: +1 per 100 guests → 8.
  3. Wedding crowd, mostly female: +1 per 100 → 10.
  4. October, so no summer add-on. Accessible: 5% of 10, minimum 1 → 1 Comfort XL.
  5. Dinner: 1 hand-wash station per 2 toilets → 5 stations.
  6. Mix: 5 deluxe near the reception, 4 standard by parking and catering, 1 Comfort XL.

Jason Rental Works house method. The accessible count follows the 2010 ADA Standards §213.2.

Same wedding in July, running past 6 hours? Add 1 unit per 150 guests (2 more for 200 guests), and shade every unit. Laredo averages a 100.8°F high in July.

We suggest the deluxe units closest to the dance floor and the standard units near parking, where staff and vendors use them.

Quote factors

What changes the quote between unit types?

Five things set the quote for any portable restroom: the unit type, the rental length (one event or a 28-day cycle), servicing, delivery zone, and quantity. Event rentals are 1 flat price for 1–5 days on site. Your itemized quote also shows any same-day or distance fee and Laredo's 8.25% sales tax.

  • Unit type: a flush, a sink or A/C adds cost; a standard unit is the base.
  • Length: events are per event, not per day; jobsites bill every 28 days.
  • Servicing: weekly is included on 28-day rentals; extra visits are priced per visit.
  • Zone: Laredo is Zone 1; Zone 3 shares one distance fee across every unit on the truck.
  • No surprises: no fuel surcharge and no card fee.

Price ranges for each unit are in the FAQ below and in the porta potty rental cost guide.

From our call logs
5 of 19

calls in our 2026 review included a price objection, and 2 of the 4 lost sales came down to a rush fee. Choosing the unit early, not the week of the event, is the easiest way to avoid one.

Ranch, pad & yard

Which portable restroom works on a ranch, gas pad or truck yard?

A standard PJN3 works on most ranches, gas pads and truck yards, and the towable version suits crews that move. Webb County produces about 3 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day, and pad crews shift from site to site. A towable unit rides on a single-axle trailer, so it follows the crew.

For warehouses and truck yards along Mines Road (FM 1472) and in Killam Industrial Park, a fixed standard unit at the dock with weekly service is usually enough. Add a hand-wash station where drivers eat. Ranch and lease sites need a Google Maps pin, the gate code and a note about any cattle guards or caliche roads.

Which portable restroom types can come same-day?

Two types come same-day in Laredo: standard units and hand-wash stations, when you call by 12:00 noon, Monday through Saturday. Deluxe units, wheelchair-accessible units and restroom trailers are reserved ahead. Zone 2 towns get next-day or scheduled delivery, and Zone 3 cities need 48 hours' notice.

FAQ

Questions about choosing a unit type

Questions taken from real rental calls, answered by our dispatchers.

(956) 396-3700
What's the price difference between the standard and the deluxe one?
For an event in Laredo, a standard unit typically runs $150–$225 and the deluxe flushing unit with a sink $235–$345, both before tax. The deluxe unit costs more because it adds a flush, a lid over the bowl, a sink, soap and towels. Both prices cover 1–5 days, delivery and pickup.
Is a portable restroom the same thing as a porta potty?
People use both words for the same single stall. A restroom trailer is different: it is a towed room with flushing toilets, sinks and A/C that needs a 120V outlet. When you call, say "trailer" or "stall unit," and we confirm which one you mean.
Which unit is cheapest for a one-day party?
The standard PolyJohn PJN3, typically $150–$225 per event before tax in Laredo. It is priced per event, not per day, so a Friday drop and Monday pickup costs the same as a single day. Add a hand-wash station, typically $85–$150, if food is served.
Which units work with no power or water on site?
Four of the five: the standard, deluxe, wheelchair-accessible and hand-wash units all carry their own tanks and need no hookups. Only the restroom trailer needs power, a 120V outlet within 100 feet, with a household outlet fine for the 2-stall size.
Do any of the units have air conditioning?
Only the restroom trailer. It runs A/C off its power cord, which matters on Laredo's roughly 74 days a year at or above 100°F. Standard and deluxe units have a roof vent; shade them from May to September. Trailers typically run $750–$2,400 for a weekend before tax.
Which unit do construction crews use?
Crews use the standard PJN3, typically $135–$199 per 28 days before tax with weekly service included. Crews that move across a pad or pipeline use the towable version on a single-axle trailer. Crew counts follow OSHA Table D-1.
I'm assuming everyone prices about the same. What should I compare?
Compare the full quote, not the headline number. Check whether delivery, pickup, servicing and tax are included, and whether a fuel surcharge or card fee is added. Our quotes have no fuel surcharge and no card fee; a same-day fee, if any, runs $0–$85 and is named before you book.
