A quinceañera is not a backyard barbecue. The guest list runs long, the tías arrive early, the dance runs late, and half the guests are in formal dresses. Restrooms that work for a 40-person cookout fall apart by the vals. This checklist walks through the decisions our dispatch team asks about, in the order we ask them.
How many porta potties does a quinceañera need?
A 200-guest quinceañera that runs 7 hours with a bar needs 10 porta potties by our house method, and 12 in July. The method starts at 1 unit per 35 guests for events of 4–8 hours, then adds units for alcohol, a mostly-female crowd and summer heat, always rounding up.
Here is how the math works for four common quinceañera guest counts. Every row assumes a 7-hour party, a bar and a guest list that leans female (damas, moms, tías and grandmothers). Accessible counts follow the 2010 ADA Standards §213.2: 5% of units, minimum 1.
| Guests | Base (÷ 35) | Bar | Mostly female | Oct–Apr total | May–Sep total | Accessible (in total) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 150 | 5 | +2 | +2 | 9 | 10 | 1 |
| 200 | 6 | +2 | +2 | 10 | 12 | 1 |
| 250 | 8 | +3 | +3 | 14 | 16 | 1 |
| 300 | 9 | +3 | +3 | 15 | 17 | 1 |
These counts assume no indoor bathrooms. If the salón or the house has working restrooms, the portable units carry the overflow, and dispatch trims the order on the call. No bar? Drop the "Bar" column. Want to test your own numbers? Use the porta potty calculator.
callers in our review, a homeowner, booked a single unit for about 100 guests. Our method calls for 2–3. A quinceañera with twice that crowd needs a real count, not a guess.

Long quinceañera evenings need more units because usage climbs every hour. Our method uses 1 unit per 50 guests for parties up to 4 hours, 1 per 35 for 4–8 hours, and 1 per 25 past 8 hours. A 200-guest party running 9 hours, from Mass to the last cumbia, starts at 8 units before any add-ons.
Think about the whole day, not the invitation time. Many families hold the Mass in the afternoon, take photos, then open the reception at 6 or 7 pm. Relatives who help with decorations may be on site from noon. If the venue is your property, count those hours too.
- Setup crew on site early? Have the units delivered the day before so the decorators have a restroom too.
- After-party at the house? Tell dispatch. A Friday drop and Monday pickup costs the same as a one-day stay.
- Two-day celebration? Multi-day events can add a service visit between days, so Sunday's guests get a fresh unit.
Do formal dresses and damas change the restroom plan?
Yes. A quinceañera crowd usually leans female, and our method adds 1 unit per 100 guests for a mostly-female event. Formal gowns also take longer in a stall. For a 250-guest party, that adjustment alone adds 3 units, and a roomier deluxe or trailer stall helps the quinceañera and her damas most.
The quinceañera's dress is the biggest challenge in the room. A standard PolyJohn PJN3 is 41 inches square inside, which is tight for a ball gown. Some families reserve one deluxe unit or a trailer stall near the dressing area for the honoree, her court and the grandmothers. A wheelchair-accessible Comfort XL, with more than 16 square feet of floor, also works well for anyone who needs room or help from a family member.
Should we rent deluxe flushing units or a restroom trailer?
Rent deluxe flushing units when you want a nicer stall with a sink inside and no hookups. Rent a restroom trailer when the party runs past dark in summer and you have a level 20–30 foot space with a 120V outlet within 100 feet. The trailer adds air conditioning, mirrors and lights.
| Option | What guests get | What you need on site | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (PolyJohn PJN3) | Seat, urinal, 2 paper rolls, mirror, vented roof | Level ground; 48-inch gate for backyards | Bulk of the count, overflow units |
| Deluxe flushing (PolyJohn Fleet) | Foot-pump flush, lid that closes over the bowl, sink, soap, towels | Level ground, 47 × 47 inch footprint, no hookups | Honoree's court, grandparents, nicer look |
| Wheelchair-accessible (Comfort XL) | Roll-in floor, no door sill, 16+ sq ft inside | Level, firm path to the door | Guests with wheelchairs or walkers |
| Restroom trailer (2-stall or 3-station) | Flushing toilets, running-water sinks, mirrors, A/C, lights | 20–30 ft of level space, 120V outlet within 100 ft | Summer nights, salón overflow, formal crowd |
One common mix: one trailer near the dance floor for the family and formal guests, plus standard units near the parking area for everyone else. See the trailer details on our restroom trailer rental page.

How many hand-wash stations does a quinceañera need?
A quinceañera with a buffet needs 1 hand-wash station for every 2 toilets, minimum 1. A 10-unit setup for 200 guests therefore gets 5 stations. Each PolyJohn Bravo station has 2 foot-pump sinks and about 34 gallons of fresh water, so two guests can wash at once without touching a faucet.
Place the stations between the restrooms and the food line, not inside the restroom cluster. Guests who see a sink on the way back to the table actually use it. Deluxe units and trailers have their own sinks, so they count toward hand washing for the people who use them.
How does Laredo summer heat change a quinceañera rental?
Laredo summer heat changes a quinceañera rental in three ways. Laredo averages 100.8°F in July, so guests drink more and visit more often. Our method adds 1 unit per 150 guests for summer events over 6 hours. Shade the units, and ask about the deodorizer refresh for long evening parties.
- Shade: a tree line or the north side of a building keeps a unit cooler inside.
- Air conditioning: only a restroom trailer has it. For a June or July party, some families make the trailer the honoree's restroom.
- Water: hand-wash stations run through water faster when every guest rinses off in the heat. A long party may need a refill visit.
Laredo sees about 74 days a year at or above 100°F, so a summer quinceañera should plan on heat, not hope against it. Our Laredo summer heat guide covers shade and service timing in detail.
Where should the units go at a quinceañera?
Place quinceañera units on level, firm ground away from the food and the dance floor, with a lit path and 3 feet clear in front of each door. The delivery truck needs a path about 10–11 feet wide with nothing lower than 12 feet. Mark the spot before tents and tables go up.
- Walk the property first. Pick a spot the truck can reach that is not a low spot. A summer storm can puddle a lawn fast.
- Group the units. One cluster is easier to light and supervise than units scattered around the yard.
- Light the path. String lights or lanterns to the doors. Standard units have a translucent roof but no light inside.
- Mark it and text a photo to (956) 396-3700. Nobody needs to be home when the truck arrives.

How far ahead should we book quinceañera restrooms?
Book quinceañera restrooms 3–4 weeks ahead, and earlier for May graduation weekends or the WBCA season from mid-January to late February. Event dates are held once paid in full, and date changes are free with 24 hours' notice. Five of our 19 reviewed calls named the same fall Saturday.
“Is it nice? Is it really nice?”
“The invitation says 4, but people always show up early.”
“We're having like 60 people, and I don't have the facilities for 60 people.”
“Put it on the side, so it's not right by where people are eating.”
Wording from recorded rental calls (19 calls reviewed, 2026), names removed. These are questions, not reviews.
The booking itself takes one call. Have the guest count, the hours, the address and a rough spot ready. We send the quote and payment link by text, which is faster than waiting on email. If a padrino or tía is paying, the invoice can go to their phone instead of yours.
